Partners in the HySEE project met at OTH Regensburg, Germany, to review progress, exchange results and coordinate the next steps for hydrogen development in Southeast Europe.
The meeting brought together representatives of OTH Regensburg, the Bulgarian Hydrogen, Fuel Cell and Energy Storage Association (BGH2A) and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, combining technical and scientific expertise with policy work and stakeholder engagement.
One of the main highlights of the meeting was the presentation of the beta version of the Hydrogen Atlas, which is being developed within the project.
The Atlas is an important part of HySEE and aims to support a better understanding and mapping of the potential for renewable hydrogen development in the region.
The programme also included a tour of the laboratory facilities at OTH Regensburg, giving partners an opportunity to gain further insight into the ongoing technical and research activities within the project.

BGH2A Presents Progress in Bulgaria
During the meeting, BGH2A presented the progress of activities in Bulgaria, with a particular focus on stakeholder engagement, policy input and support for regional hydrogen development.
The discussions demonstrated the value of cooperation between the partners, who contribute different but complementary expertise – ranging from technical and scientific analysis to engagement with institutions, policymakers and stakeholders.
The partners also discussed key project milestones, upcoming opportunities and future cooperation. The European Climate Initiative (EUKI) also provided valuable input to the discussions.
BGH2A would like to thank the OTH Regensburg team for their warm welcome and excellent organisation of the meeting.
About the HySEE Project
HySEE is an international project focused on supporting the development of the hydrogen ecosystem in Southeast Europe. The project maps the potential for renewable hydrogen in Bulgaria and analyses opportunities for the development of the Southeast European hydrogen corridor towards Europe.
By combining technical analysis, policy work and active stakeholder engagement, the project aims to create a stronger basis for the future development of the hydrogen sector in the region.
The partnership between OTH Regensburg, BGH2A and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca brings together expertise from Germany, Bulgaria and Romania, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, stronger regional coordination and the development of practical tools to support hydrogen deployment.
The meeting in Regensburg marks another step in this joint effort, with a shared goal: turning knowledge, data and international cooperation into practical progress for Southeast Europe’s hydrogen future.
