Six billion euros for hydrogen and clean technologies from the Hydrogen Bank and the Innovation Fund

The European Commission announced today (4 December) the launch of the third round of the European Hydrogen Bank, with a budget of €1.3 billion supplemented by €1.7 billion in national contributions. It was also announced that the Innovation Fund is opening new financing opportunities for net‑zero technology projects, with a budget of €2.9 billion. In total, approximately €6 billion is now available for the hydrogen sector.

The third round of the Hydrogen Bank, targeting the production of renewable and low‑carbon hydrogen, as well as projects in the aviation and maritime sectors, is open for applications until 19 February 2026, accessible here. The deadline for applications under the new calls financed through the Innovation Fund is 23 April 2026. More information is available on the European Commission’s website.

These funding opportunities aim to accelerate progress toward the EU’s 2030 climate and energy goals and the objective of climate neutrality by 2050, while at the same time supporting the transition to a clean industrial economy and strengthening competitiveness and resilience within the EU.
