On 28–29 May 2026, Trakia University – Stara Zagora will host the international forum Hydrogen for Clean Power and Mobility, bringing together leading scientists, researchers, industry experts and business representatives from Bulgaria and abroad.
The event will take place in Augusta Traiana Hall and will focus on hydrogen as one of the most promising technologies for clean energy, sustainable industry and low-emission mobility.
The forum is part of the activities under the project “Development of Research and Innovation at Trakia University in Support of Health and Sustainable Well-being” No. BG-RRP-2.004-006, implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and funded under the Education Programme 2021–2027.
The event is also part of H2START – Centre of Excellence in Hydrogen Technologies, a strategic project implemented with the participation of Trakia University, the Bulgarian Hydrogen, Fuel Cell and Energy Storage Association, and international partners. As a partner in H2START, we see this forum as an important step toward strengthening Bulgaria’s scientific, educational and industrial capacity in renewable hydrogen technologies and positioning Stara Zagora as an emerging hydrogen hub in Southeast Europe.
The programme will feature speakers from Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Greece and Bulgaria, representing universities, research organisations and companies with a key role in the development of the hydrogen sector.
The first day of the forum will be dedicated to a Hydrogen Masterclass, tracing the pathway of hydrogen technologies from scientific concept to industrial implementation. Topics will cover the hydrogen value chain, production, storage, transport and real-world applications in energy and industry.
The second day will present the latest research and technological developments in the sector, including innovations in electrolysis, fuel cells, hydrogen infrastructure and mobility. Special attention will be given to solutions for the future of low-emission transport, new materials and practical demonstrations.
The two-day programme will include a demonstration of a hydrogen vehicle, presentations on hydrogen applications in railway transport, a modular test bench for hydrogen equipment, as well as specialised poster sessions with the participation of young scientists and researchers.
We at BGH2A believe that initiatives of this kind are essential for connecting science, business and the public sector. The development of clean hydrogen requires not only advanced technologies, but also skilled professionals, a supportive regulatory framework, industrial partnerships and active knowledge exchange. This is precisely the ambition of H2START: to create an ecosystem where research, innovation and real-life applications work together to support Bulgaria’s and the region’s transition toward climate neutrality.
The organisers invite university lecturers, researchers, students, PhD candidates, representatives of public institutions and businesses to take part in the event. Participants may register as attendees or apply to present a poster. Participation is free of charge, and certificates will be provided to all registered participants.
Abstracts for poster presentations will be accepted until 11 May 2026 for inclusion in the book of abstracts, taking into account the time required for preparation and printing. Posters may also be presented after this deadline, but they will not be included in the published abstract volume.
