Today, 12 November 2025, the European Commission launched the first call for expressions of interest under the EU Hydrogen Mechanism. The Mechanism, officially announced in early July this year, aims to support industrial decarbonisation and the development of the market for renewable and low-carbon hydrogen and its derivatives (ammonia, methanol, eSAF and eMethane).
The submission phase for supply offers of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen and derivatives runs from 12 November 2025 to 2 January 2026. From 19 January 2026 to 20 March 2026, prospective buyers will be invited to express their demand interest.
The results of this first round under the Hydrogen Mechanism will be published on 31 March 2026.
The European Commission is also organising an online workshop on 19 November 2025, designed to provide stakeholders with more information about the call. The event will be held entirely online and will feature a presentation by Cristina Lobillo Borrero, Director at the Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy, followed by a technical session with a detailed demonstration of the procedure.
Registration for the event is available here. The workshop is open to representatives from industry, financial institutions, academia and other interested stakeholders.
