The European Commission has announced that a total of €2.9 billion from the Innovation Fund will be invested in 61 zero-emission technology projects. These grants follow the first call for zero-emission technologies (IF24 Call), launched in December of last year.
Among the winning projects are several large hydrogen initiatives, which make up about a quarter of the approved projects. These include Spain’s Luxia, which plans to produce green hydrogen for ammonia and methanol production; Denmark’s Arcadia e-Fuels, which uses hydrogen for sustainable aviation fuels; and the Czech H2CWay, aimed at producing hydrogen fuel cell buses, among others.
The selected projects span 19 industrial sectors across 18 countries, reflecting the EU’s commitment to decarbonization. The focus is on energy-intensive industries, renewable energy, zero-emission mobility, and zero-emission buildings, among others.
All chosen projects are now entering the agreement-signing phase with CINEA – the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. The final confirmation of these projects is expected in the first half of 2026.
The next Innovation Fund call is set to take place in December 2025.
