EU Allocates Over €600 Million for Alternative Fuel Projects, Including Hydrogen Mobility

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has announced over €600 million in funding to support the electrification and decarbonisation of road, maritime, inland waterway, and air transport across the Trans-European Transport Network.

The selected projects aim to deploy alternative fuel infrastructure, including the installation of 38 hydrogen refuelling stations for cars, trucks, and buses. In addition, 24 ports will benefit from the integration of cleaner technologies such as ammonia bunkering facilities and onshore power supply, helping to accelerate the development of zero-emission freight corridors.

The funding will also support the installation of 3,500 electric charging points, including 2,000 specifically for heavy-duty vehicles. Moreover, 16 European airports will receive funding to electrify their ground operations as part of the broader EU effort to decarbonise the transport sector.
