The European Commission officially launched the Hydrogen Mechanism, the first operational tool under the new EU Energy and Raw Materials Platform. The initiative is designed to enhance the competitiveness of European industry while accelerating its transition to climate neutrality.
The Hydrogen Mechanism connects European and global hydrogen buyers and sellers on a transparent, digital platform. It aims to match supply and demand for renewable and low-carbon hydrogen and derivatives (such as ammonia and methanol), while also facilitating access to infrastructure planning and financial services.

- Structured market rounds organized by the European Commission (first round: September 2025)
- Participation opportunities for off-takers, suppliers, and financial institutions
- Support for project development and infrastructure coordination
The platform is a response to ongoing challenges in the hydrogen market, including demand uncertainty, infrastructure gaps, and limited funding availability.
