The Bulgarian Association for Hydrogen, Fuel Cells and Energy Storage (BGH2A) supports the draft amendments to the Energy from Renewable Sources Act published for public consultation. The Association considers the changes a necessary step for the full transposition of RED III and related EU regulations.
In its submitted position to the Ministry of Energy, BGH2A stresses that the RED III targets for green hydrogen and renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) require dedicated national measures to enable deployment, build infrastructure and attract investment.
Key points in BGH2A’s position:
- Support for RED III objectives, including the sectoral RFNBO and green hydrogen shares required by 2030 and 2035
- Call for targeted national mechanisms and programmes to:
accelerate the deployment and uptake of green hydrogen;
stimulate investments in production, storage and transport infrastructure;
scale up pilot and demonstration projects;
promote public–private partnerships to de-risk projects and mobilize capital.
- A primary priority for BGH2A is the development of a functioning, liquid market for clean hydrogen in Bulgaria that is integrated with regional and European markets.
BGH2A stands ready to provide technical expertise, data and constructive input to support the detailed design and implementation of these measures.
